Ten items or Less only has two main characters, Him (Morgan Freeman) and the Cashier (Paz Vega). The two meet in a grocery store, with Him, preparing for an acting role, as a store manager. While researching his role at the grocery store he meets the Cashier.
Meanwhile, his taxi driver, being worried about sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store in the Latino side of town, leaves.
The actor has been so afraid of failure, that as a result he has not landed any new film roles. Him and the cashier explore Los Angeles by car, with the cashier helping Him, to find his back to Hollywood.
