Mame Biram Diouf marked his first start for Blackburn with a hat-trick as the Premier League side eased past Norwich to reach the Carling Cup third round.
The Senegal international, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, headed in after Chris Samba flicked on Morten Gamst Pedersen’s long throw.
Blackburn keeper Mark Bunn saved well from Simeon Jackson and Grant Holt before Diouf, 22, tapped in his second.
Diouf nodded in a third before Jens Berthel Askou headed a consolation.
Manager Sam Allardyce had given his loan star two substitute outings in the Barclays Premier League but chose tonight’s cup fixture against npower Championship opposition to give him his first start and he did not disappoint.
Diouf, who made six appearances for United last season and also sat on the bench for their Carling Cup final win over Aston Villa, was heavily involved from the outset.

SAM Allardyce has hailed hat trick hero Mame Biram Diouf a “natural goal scorer” and has challenged him to now make a Premier League impact.
The Manchester United loanee became the first Blackburn Rovers player to score a treble since Roque Santa Cruz almost three years ago as Championship outfit Norwich were dumped out of the Carling Cup second round.
Making his full Rovers debut, Diouf added two late second half goals to his first half opener to inspire a comfortable 3-1 victory.

HAT-TRICK hero Mame Biram Diouf admits he is driven by the constant pursuit of perfection after revealing his thirst for goals is never quenched.
The Manchester United loanee became the first Blackburn Rovers player to bag a treble since Roque Santa Cruz almost three years ago, but immediately insisted: ‘I should have had more’.
Diouf’s predatory instincts helped to dump Norwich City out of the Carling Cup second round on Tuesday night on his first Rovers start since arriving on a season-long loan.
He believes he should have added to his three goals though, having seen one header hit the bar and another bounce wide.
He said: “It is a good feeling to score the goals but it’s always the misses I remember more.
