Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic has joined Ukrainian side Dnipro for an undisclosed fee.

The Croatia international, who arrived at Rovers from Hadjuk Split two years ago, decided his future lay outside England and completed the move to the Ukraine today.

He played for Croatia as a substitute in last night's international draw with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.

Kalinic last scored for Blackburn in a 4-1 defeat at Aston Villa in February.

Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic refused to catch a plane to the Asia Cup last night in an angry row with the troubled club.

The Croatian wants to leave to join Ukrainian club Dnipro and stayed behind as the squad headed off to Hong Kong.

Kalinic faces a £60,000 fine for his action, but tempers are running high after his camp were ignored as they followed-up his official bid to leave.

Agent Tomislay Erceg said: “Nikola has been disrespected by the club. He tried all day to speak to them about his transfer request.

“We even called India to speak to the owners and to the manager Steve Kean, but no-one would talk to us.

“There is an offer in, and it is worth more than £6million with bonuses.

"Nikola does not want to play for Blackburn again.”

Erceg also had a go at Kean over his treatment of Kalinic, a £6m buy from Hajduk Split in 2009.

“I spoke to him three months ago and he said he [Kalinic] was his best player. Then he never plays him after that," said the agent.

“Nikola cannot play for Croatia if he does not get in the Blackburn team. He has to go.

"He is finished there.”

Blackburn are ready to sell striker Nikola Kalinic to Ukrainian team Dnipro in a £4.5million deal - to give manager Steve Kean's transfer kitty a boost.

Croatian striker Kalinic wants to leave the club and is ready to head to Eastern Europe for salary negotiations once the clubs agree on a price.

However, the move will only go through after the weekend, when a mandate to sell him for an optimistic £12m expires.

Kean needs the cash that selling Kalinic would bring to help land his summer targets, although a move for Monaco defender Cedric Mongongu has hit a snag.

The Congo international - valued at £2.25m - does not have enough caps for a work permit.

He also does not have a French passport yet and faces a struggle to obtain one before the transfer window shuts at the end of next month.

Rovers are also hoping to agree a new loan facility with a European bank after being given bad news from their bankers, who want to close down their overdraft and claw back money.

Nikola Kalinic has told Blackburn boss Steve Kean he wants to quit the club - and the Croatian striker will now be sold to the highest bidder.

Kalinic had a chat with Kean during pre-season training and explained he is keen for a fresh start away from Rovers.

Kean is willing to let Kalinic go after leaving him out of the side during their successful battle to avoid relegation at the end of last season.

Rovers have given an agent a mandate to sell him for £12million, but that expires in just over a week's time.

Ukrainian side Dnipro are prepared to pay £4.1m for the player, but Kalinic is looking to stay in the Premier League if he can.

Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic is a £4million target for Ukrainian outfit Dnipro - and he has told Rovers that he wants to leave.

The Croatian was left out of Steve Kean's side during their survival fight at the end of last season and now has the chance of quitting for a new challenge in Eastern Europe.

Rovers paid Hajduk Split £6m for Kalinic two years ago and want to make a sizeable profit on him - they have given mandates to agents to bring them an even better deal for their out-of-favour forward.

Unsettled Kalinic has gone on Rovers' pre-season tour of Austria and has let Kean know that he wants out now - and hopes that a sensible price is agreed.

NIKOLA Kalinic is seeking talks with boss Steve Kean within the next 10 days as he looks to bring an end to the uncertainty hanging over his Blackburn Rovers career.

The Croatian striker has been stuck in limbo since dropping out of favour at Ewood Park last season but is now demanding answers to whether he is still in the club’s plans before the start of pre-season.

Rovers fly out to Austria for a week-long training camp at the start of next month and Kalinic wants to know before then whether Steve Kean’s plans for the future include him.

The 23-year-old, who Sam Allardyce brought to Rovers for £6million in August 2009, has several suitors from the Premier League and abroad waiting to swoop and his representatives are now desperate to sort the player’s future out one way or the other.

Kalinic still wants to prove a success at Rovers but does not want his current uncertainty to drag on any more as he looks for regular football.

Kalinic is concerned the longer the situation continues the more likely it is to affect his pre-season preparations and will ask the club to be up front with him if they don’t believe he is the answer to their search for more fire power.

Rovers boss Kean has already revealed he will be looking to sign two strikers this summer and sources close to Kalinic fear this would spell the end of his Ewood stay.

Agent Tomislav Erceg, said: “We want to talk to the coach as soon as possible so we know what happens next. Nikola Kalinic is contracted to Blackburn and so we will not talk about other clubs.

“There are a lot of clubs we believe who would want Niko.

"He needs to know if he is going to play for Blackburn first though.

"There is no problem with the club and if they want him to stay he will stay.”

Nikola Kalinic could leave Blackburn at the end of the season if he does not start getting more first-team action, according to the player's agent.

Croatia international Kalinic has not played in Rovers' last three matches and did not even make the squad for last weekend's 0-0 draw at Arsenal.

The 23-year-old striker's representative Tomislav Erceg insists Kalinic is focused on helping Blackburn preserve their Barclays Premier League status, but admits the situation is concerning for his client and confirmed they intend to hold talks with the club over his future at Ewood Park in the summer.

"It has not been easy for Nikola and we don't know what has happened because last month he played for a strong Croatian team but he has not played a second for Blackburn," said Erceg, quoted in the Lancashire Telegraph.

"We are not even talking about other clubs now though because he is contracted with Blackburn and wants to concentrate on helping the club out of a difficult position.

"He likes Blackburn Rovers and is happy here but he needs to play. He is a young player who is very confident about what he can do and we will have to see what happens in the summer.

"We hope he will play and stay but if he does not play he might have to change clubs. We will speak with the club in the summer but until then there is no problem and he will keep working hard to help the club.

"Obviously there are clubs who would want him but they are not even in our thoughts at the moment."

NIKOLA Kalinic can’t wait for the next chapter of his Premier League adventure after hailing the success of Blackburn Rovers’ Austrian ‘boot camp from hell’.

Rovers’ Croatian striker was part of Sam Allardyce’s squad which toiled in the near 40-degree Celsius heat to a 0-0 draw at Sturm Graz in Saturday’s pre-season opener – but insists the week away will prove the perfect preparation.

The squad spent a week at their altitude training camp in Austria, the same place that England prepared for their World Cup campaign, where every player was put through an intense training programme, including strict diets.

The squad report back for training at their Brockhall base today ahead of Saturday’s friendly at Fleetwood, with games against Preston and Huddersfield before their trip to the Sydney Festival of Football on July 22.

PAUL Warhurst believes this will prove to be a ‘big season’ for Rovers’ Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic after insisting it can take time to make it in the Premier League.

Kalinic‘s debut season in the English top-flight last time round provided glimpses of the potential that saw Rovers splash out £6million for him last summer but – with just two league goals to his name so far – he will be out with a point to prove this campaign.

The Croatian is expected to lead the line for some of today’s opening pre-season friendly against Sturm Graz in Austria and, with Sam Allardyce’s efforts in the transfer market continually frust-rated, a lot of respon-sibility will fall on his shoulders in terms of fire power. Former Rover Warhurst though has witnessed at first hand a number of Sam Allardyce’s past foreign imports come good after a ‘settling in’ period and sees no reason why Kalinic can’t follow suit.

MR Blackburn Rovers Tony Parkes has tipped Ewood Park’s young guns for future World Cup glory - but warns their best route to success is to remain in East Lancashire.

Parkes, who enjoyed a 34-year career at Rovers as player, coach and caretaker boss, has identified Martin Olsson, Nikola Kalinic, Phil Jones and Steven Nzonzi as all having bright international futures but fears any ‘rash moves’ to the game’s bigger clubs could quickly halt their progress.

He describes their progress in their first full Premier League seasons as ‘exciting’ but insists they are in exactly the right place to ensure they fulfil their potential.

Parkes said: “If you are a young kid and you can get yourself playing regularly in a Premier League team then you do have a great chance of making a name for yourself on the world stage.

“It is very tough to establish yourself as a Premier League regular at any level but I really do believe that Rovers have the rare luxury of having a handful who could do that at the club.

NIKOLA Kalinic has vowed to prove he can be a Premier League success this season after insisting his first taste of English football went ‘better than expected’.

Blackburn Rovers’ £6million Croatian showed glimpses of his potential in his debut Premier League campaign but is determined to step up a level in the coming months.

The former Hajduk Split striker has already emerged as a firm fans favourite at Ewood Park, having hit seven goals in 21 starts last season, but he is confident he still has a lot more to come.

Kalinic, 22, was made to wait for a regular league starting place last season as boss Sam Allardyce refused to rush him into the first team but believes he is now ready to make a more immediate impact.

He said: “Of course I am looking forward to the new season and the chance to prove I am capable of playing in the Premier League regularly as a main striker.

“I am willing to work hard to go a step further now because I want to become the first striker at Blackburn Rovers.

"I know that will not be easy but I believe with hard work that is possible.

“That will also mean I have a better chance of becoming a regular in the national team.

"I am grateful for the chance Blackburn have given me and will keep looking to repay their faith.”
